The calculators and articles on PawNumbers are provided for general educational purposes. They are not veterinary advice and cannot diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.

Every pet is different

Formulas use average values. They cannot account for your pet’s medical history, medications, body condition, breed-specific risks or laboratory results. A result that is normal on paper can still be wrong for your pet, and a result outside the range can be normal for some individuals.

Emergencies

If your pet has eaten something toxic, is struggling to breathe, has collapsed, is straining to urinate, is having a seizure, or has heavy bleeding, contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately. Do not wait for a calculator result.

In the United States, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center can be reached at 888-426-4435. A consultation fee may apply.

No veterinarian-client relationship

Using this site does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Only a veterinarian who has examined your pet can provide a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Accuracy and updates

We aim to base every calculator on published guidance and to state its limits. Veterinary knowledge changes, and errors are possible. If you find a problem, please emailhello@pawnumbers.com with the page and the source you are comparing.
