About PawNumbers

PawNumbers is a small collection of free calculators for dog and cat owners. The goal is narrow: take a question people actually ask, answer it with a transparent formula, and say plainly where the estimate stops being reliable.

How the calculators are built

Each tool is built around a published formula or a widely used veterinary guideline. Feeding estimates start from resting energy requirement and apply life-stage factors. Water estimates scale with body weight and adjust for diet, heat and activity. Dog age uses the 15/24 rule with size-based ageing after the second year. Crate sizing follows standard crate dimensions and measurement rules. Pregnancy dates use the accepted gestation ranges for each species.

The formula and its assumptions are written on every page. When a topic is medical, the tool includes a reminder that a calculator cannot examine your pet and that a veterinarian should make the final call.

What these tools are not

They are not a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a replacement for a veterinary exam. They also cannot account for every individual: a dog with kidney disease, a cat with a thyroid condition, or a puppy with an unusual growth history needs a plan built by a vet who knows them.

How the site is funded

The calculators are free. The site may display advertising or include affiliate links to relevant products. Affiliate links are always disclosed, and they never change the number a calculator returns. See the affiliate disclosure for details.
